Monkey Mia has a boat ramp, resort and dolphin information centre along its sandy beach. The rangers keep strict control of the interaction and although you can swim you have to keep still if they come close and no touching or they march you out of the water. The talk and feeding only happens three times in the morning depending on when the dolphins come in. We managed to catch one session which was very interesting. The feeding is restricted to only a select few...

We travelled by bus out to the rock. On the way we stopped off at Corrigin to see the dog cemetery. Hippo's Yawn was off the same car park. We were able to walk right up and along the granite ridge with views out to the salt plains scattered I between the farming land. It was a long 12 hr day with a good look at the rich wheat belt where they were harvesting.

What a well planned easy to drive around city. We caught up with a few friends we had met on our travels and spent Christmas here. We visited Freemantle, Yanchep National Park as well as the museum, art gallery Waca grounds and casino. (We slipped over to Qld for Aaby's first birthday which was a great opportunity to catch up with some family and friends. )

The cool winds meant we only called into Dongara and Port Denison instead of staying overnight. The locals tell us there is strong winds from Kalbarri to Perth this time of year. We were lucky enough to see some wonderful native trees and flowers along the road as well as enormousness sand dunes. Geraldton has a great waterfront along Champion Bay for families. The wharf end where we stayed had lots of silos of wheat and commercial fishing boats. Lots of development going on so the shopping wasn't too bad. We went to the Melb Cup Race Day where they had lots of seating and good view of the track which didn't prove lucky for us. We took in a tour of the hospital and goal, museum (Batavia wreck) and cathedral. It was windy most days and a bit cool at times....
