Mt Gambier was a spot we thought we could revisit some time again. Having decided to move on to Victoria to see family didn't give us much time to look around.

The hot weather was in full swing while we were here. Having lived here back in the late 70s it was interesting to revisit a few old places and catch up with friends including John and Loretta who had a day off from the wineries.

An overnight night stop at the Van Park on the river was highlighted by the wonderful sights of the Flinders Ranges and the environmental statues along the highway.

Cowell is home to May Gibbs and Jade. We bought Aaby a counting book but due to storm damage to the roof we didn't get to see the Jade display. The museum was set in the old Post Office residence circa 1888 and was well set out with lots of different antiques and household items on display. The local Bbq and ceremony on Aust Day was a good way to welcome in their three new citizens. This is as close as we get to Kimba which is half way between the East and West ...

Fang was full of knowledge about the various seafood that is farmed in and around the region. The town was getting ready for the big Tunarama festival which was on over the Aust Day weekend. We played bowls at one of the clubs and visited the RSL museum.
