Distance today: 21km
Distance remaining: 684km
Today started with a bang. It seems that breakfast was included at our Refugio, and all for 5.50 each!!! Liz and I stuffed our faces with toast and coffee, and when we couldn´t eat anymore, hit the road. By the time we had gotten some bread for lunch, we were on track at 7:15am. Not bad.
The road ahead consisted of 3 reasonable hills, one pretty much as soon as we got out of town. to ease the pain of the uphill battle, the very generous Irache Bodega had installed a fountain that dispensed both water and wine. Needless to say, we stocked up on both!! hehe, well, we tried the wine, but thought even 8am was too early for us - it´s no nautical noon!!
from here the day progressed nicely. the hills we thought were going to be tough weren´t that bad, and the day flew by. In the last hour into Los Arcos there was nothing to be seen but rolling green hills, grape vines and the mountains in the distance.
We arrived into town at midday, showered, washed some socks, and went into town to have a look around. the church here is pretty amazing - 12th century gothic aparently. Well worth a look if you happen to be in the area.
Tomorrow has two challenging climbs, then a long flattish walk into Logrono. We have decided to take a rest day here to enjoy some tapas and wine (it is the capital of the La Rioja region), upload some photos and relax. The next few days after that are going to be quite hard, so what better way to tackle them than with a hangover!! hehehe.
So keep reading my little blog buddies and we will keep typing. Hope to hear from you all soon! XOXO, Us
