Total distance today: 31.3km
Total distance remaining: 479.4km
After a lovely and relaxing two days in Burgos, it was time to get back on the road and get some distance in! The morning was cold and overcast but thankfully not rainy. Our spirits were pretty high and didn't even notice the kms ticking off, which was really nice. Yet again, the scenery was beautiful, but too overcast and rainy to take photos. Boo.
We arrived in our target town of Hornillos by 11.30, so we decided to have a quick lunch and carry on. The plan was to see how we felt as we went, as there were refugios over the next two 5km intervals. The first one was came across was literally a shack in the middle of nowhere (although the sign looked fairly cheery). We continued on and arrived in Hontanas around 2pm and here we are! The refugio we are staying in has a cool glass floor through which you can see the original medieval foundations. It won an architectural award for most creative reconstruction of a space. Cool!
Again, no USB because they seem to only believe in computers from 1983 so far (ok a bit harsh, it is simple living) no photos today. We had to wait about an hour and half for one computer (from 1983 as i said), so we spent the time at the bar drinking 60 cent wine from la rioja. Oops! Fingers crossed for tomorrow getting photos up! Thinking about another big day tomorrow to get us a day ahead of schedule, we'll see how it pans out!
By the way, would be great to hear what is happening with all you peeps and how everying is going in the real world. As far as we can tell, the world is under seige by swine flu! Feel free to email or post, we miss you all!
