Distance today (can´t remember the other two days since we last typed): 19km
Total Distance remaining: 20.6km
Sorry for the absence from the blog board - I know you have all been anxiously waiting with baited breath for our next entry, especially now that we are only one day from our goal!! The sad thing about the last few days is that they have really been unspectacular. Not because of the scenery or because of the company (Liz is still OK to travel with), but because it has been getting more and more crowded on the roads (plenty of day-walkers), and it has been raining like crazy.
For 3 days we have started and ended our hiking days in the rain - no breaks. we have been soaked. Luckily all the refugios we have stayed at have had the heat on, so mostly everything has been dry the next morning (shoes are still a bit wet).
Last night we were lucky enough to be bunked below the team snorer, who was asleep before everyone and up first thing to wake everyone up, but at this stage of the race, we seemed both ok with very little sleep. maybe we were just happy to be warm!!
Today was an early start and a short day. We reached our refugio by 11am, so had to wait for 2 hours for it to open (there was a cafe just down the road that serve a mean coffee, that helped pass the time). tomorrow we hit Santiago, our goal and the end of our 800km journey. Bout time!!!! hehe, just kidding. Really looking forward to it as a sense of accomplishment, but at the same time, a little dissapointed it is all over (although my blistered feet will disagree!).
Tomorrow we will hopefully get to wrap up the trip, complete with photos from our arrival. there are no real additions from the last few days thanks to the rain!
By teh way, we are still waiting on ideas from people who have visited northern spain for things to do / places to visit in the next week. Lets see some ideas people!!! :)
