We continue to head north at a very slow pace because of the state of the so called road! Imagine a forest track which is wide enough for one vehicle add pot holes and then make it all ripply so it is difficult to drive over and that is the main road through this area! We even had to cross on a boat today as the road was completely shut . It took us for about 20 km up the canal and was very enjoyable. We didn't have to pay either as it was the only way to go . We have to be in Chaiten by Tuesday as we are catching a ferry to an island which we will then travel along to the ferry back to the mainland by Puerto Montt. The ferry takes 5 hours so hope it isn't too rough.the scenery has been so spectacular this last few days lots of lakes and mountains and forests, high mountain passes and lots of views. The nights are much colder but it still hasn't rained much. We have camped wherever but today have found hot showers and we have all enjoyed them very much . The photo is of the marble caves that we visited by boat which was very interesting. .
