Our week in Perth was long awaited and we were all extremely excited to be arriving for a visit with my brother, Wud/Mat, his beautifully round (pregnant) wife Gem, and their very gorgeous dog George. We were also excited to be living in a house again, what a treat! The boys were especially chuffed to have their own rooms and special beds, plus little goodie bags and gifts left for them by Nannette from her last visit. We had the house to ourselves for a few hours before the owners got home so we were able to make ourselves at home and catch up on some washing; clothes, car and van! The next day we had a lovely time settling in, playing with George, taking him for a walk, playing around the house, grocery shopping, and I had a hair cut and colour (looooong overdue!). The next day we spent at the local and very large and fancy shopping complex, Joondalup. After picking up some bits and bobs we had a delicious sushi lunch and then went to TimeZone, the boys first time. They were in heaven! We all had great fun! That evening Ben and I had dinner by ourselves while Gem and Wud looked after the boys. (Thank you!!!) We lashed out and enjoyed a spectacular meal at a very beautiful restaurant at Hillary's Harbour. It was very special to be on our own together for a while. The next day, Saturday, we had Gem with us which was so nice, so we went into Swan Valley for beer and wine tasting, a divine fine-food lunch, a coffee spot and the Margaret River Chocolate Factory. Needless to say we were all stuffed and could barely move that arvo!! Sunday saw us travelling to the stunning and eclectic Freo for a wander around the markets, lunch (I tried my first Colombian food, yum!), and an AFL match. We had a great time and we really enjoyed the footy. That night we had the pleasure of Gem's parents company for dinner and loved sharing our travelling stories. Luckily for us Gem didn't have to work the next day, Monday so we got to spend another full day with her. It was pretty miserable weather so we went ten-pin bowling, Ben won, Jack lost (didn't go down well), and Lachie and Will beat me, oh dear (but they did have bumpers and a ramp!). That night we went into the city for an amazing dinner of ribs at the famous? Tony Roma's, yummo! The next day, our last in Perth, Ben and I had a few things to get organised so it wasn't until after lunch we went into Scitech, a science and technology hands-on centre. It was brilliant! We all had so much fun trying out the countless experiments and activities, we spent hours there and could've spent more if we didn't get hungry and thirsty! We picked Gem up from work which was just around the corner and drove into Leaderville for some fantastic (best I've ever eaten) gelato at Gusto's Gelato. Ben and I had a busy evening doing some more prep for our departure the next day but we did make time for a game of Euchre.
It was so sad to be leaving the next morning, the boys were not keen to be leaving their best mate George, but we definitely have another visit to look forward to soon with the arrival of our first niece/nephew/cousin! On the road again...... Thanks Wud and Gem and George for a wonderful holiday!!!! See you soon, plus one! Xxxx
