Adventures of a Global Wanderer
After leaving the Dejima Dutch Settlement I followed the signs to Chinatown that were closeby. It was easy to find and starts with a large chinese style gateway and hanging lanterns. Chinatown wasnt that big and went down from the north gate to the south gate. In the middle it intersected with another street leading to an east gate and west gate. Nearby was an old chinese settlement I also wanted to explore. It was about a 5 min walk away in a city neighbourhood. At first I thought there wasnt really anything there and this was just the site of where it once stood. But then there was a map at the start explaining the village. It was an old settlement with four walls which have since disappeared. There were however four temples that remained and it showed a walking path to each. If you imagine a rectangle within the village walls the temples were at each corner of the rectangle. They were all small and modest but the last one on the circuit was the largest.
