We had a fabulous 4th of July. It started with sleeping in a bit which is always a great thing. We had a very slow and relaxing morning. At around 10:15 we headed out the door for our usual four mile hike. It was already getting very hot and we quickly realized that we probably should have started earlier. Our little neighborhood sits right at the edge of Horsetooth Park and Lory State Park. Today our friend Nathan came over and we hiked to the top of Arthur's Rock. This is a natural rock outcropping in Lory State Park that we can see from our deck. It is a 3.5 mile round trip hike that is one of my favorites. The views from the top are amazing. Last night we had tickets to see Dark Star Orchestra at Mishawaka. Dark Star is one of the best Grateful Dead cover bands around and "The Mish" is one of the best places to see a show. The amphitheater sits in the Poudre Canyon on the river. We decided to head up the canyon early and have a picnic dinner on the river before the show.
