Another day in Peniscola. We made the decision this morning to stay another day here, then travel the 277 km's tomorrow to drop off the van by 12pm in Barcelona. It will mean an early start but it gives us the day to relax and see the sites. We packed up and drove in to the city about lunch then had sandwiches on the beach. Once again the sun was shining and there were people everywhere. We headed along the beach and up to the castle. It cost us all of €3.50 each to get in so we had to do it. The castle was built by the knights Templar in the 14th century. It was another beautiful castle but what it so amazing were the views out over the mediterranean and the countryside. As we reached the top black clouds started to roll in over the mountains and we had thunder and lightning. We finished the castle, headed back through the old town and back in to the city with the storm getting closer and closer. As we arrived back in the centre it had become a ghost town. Shops had packed up and the streets and beach had cleared. We timed it well. As we jumped in the van the heavens opened. We made our way to a different van park for tonight then headed off to the supermarket. Fresh calamari and pasta were cooked tonight with our limited utensils and it turned out pretty amazing. We've packed up and had a look at the small zoo in the park. Then it's off to bed with a movie. Tonight is our last night in a camper. Tomorrow we've a big hike to Barcelona to return it. It has been pretty amazing to see the Spanish countryside. It is a spectacular place and probably just about our favourite country. The wicked camper has been fun but I think it is best left to the young 20 something's.
