We had a skype call with Jac's parents first up this morning. It was lovely having that touch of home again and sent us out the door in great spirits. The day was overcast and we had a few light showers over the next few hours. We jumped on the metro and headed into the city centre. As we stepped out into daylight my phone rang. It was our friend Jude. We spoke for half an hour which was just perfect catching up on all her news.
Then it was off to have a cheap gyro in the centre square. After the feed our first ruins for the day was Hadrian's Library. From there a stroll through the district of Plaka and on to the Temple of Olympic Zeus. The columns were huge and once again it was peaceful with hardly anyone around.
Then we wasted an hour by heading out to Piraeus Port. The area was not very nice and we wandered for half an hour before heading back home. No wonder they don't advertise it in any guide books. We stopped at a supermarket for some supplies then retired to our room. Nothing very exciting happened and we are now watching Memoirs of a Geisha. I really hope that the car chase or big explosions happen soon.
