Jac was really struggling with homesickness this morning. I think the whole flat thing is getting to her and she wishes she was back home. After a few weeks though she would wish she was back over here. By this time next week we should have a place organised so everything should be fine.
The best thing to do was get out and about. We headed back to the Acropolis and today had plenty of time to explore. The view from on top over Athens is unbelievable and it's surprising how spread out the city is. The Acropolis was amazing but I think they have gone too far with the restoration. Rather than maintenance they are replacing whole sections which look too out of place. They should take a leaf out of the Romans book.
We then wandered down the hill to look at ancient Agora. This was the centre of ancient Athens and the place where democracy was born. This was very impressive and we spent a few hours wandering around. From there it was back to Avissinias Square for cheap gyros and a spot of people watching. It was another beautiful day and we were so content sitting in the sun.
Out the front of the parliament house they do a changing of the guard every hour so we wandered up to watch. It was interesting to say the least. The ceremony was weird as they almost dance together. They wore skirts and shoes that have pom poms on the toes. Can't see them instilling fear into too many enemies.
We continued on to the National Garden. One thing about Athens is it has some of the most beautiful parks. We wandered around for an hour enjoying nature. They also have enclosures of animals and birds so spent a fair amount of time enjoying their antics. Finally it was back home for a bit more house searching before bed time. Going to head back tomorrow to some more ruins and maybe a museum or 2. Everything here is so cheap so it makes sightseeing that much more enjoyable.
