Left Akaroa for the town of Methven, which is next to the popular ski resort of Mt Hutt. We stopped off for some lunch at Lyttleton where all the big expensive houses are set up on the hill overlooking what looks like a huge lake, until you get into the centre and greeted by an ugly industrial harbour- perfect way to destroy scenery!
Dave then got all excited about the mountain tunnel we went through, which links Lyttleton and Christ Church, before we were driving through the mountain ranges and snowy peaks of Mt Hutt. Absolutely stunning!
The mountains were surrounded by clear blue lakes, flowing rivers, tall green cedar type trees and even the passing eagle flying overhead. We eventually got to Methven and joined the herds of campervans in a park before joining them all for tea in the lounge. They had all been out skiing, which we already knew with the snowboards, ski's and ski boots which were outside!
