31/05/14 Spent the day at the Broome Races. Typical country race meeting with lots of local characters, a dirt track, some ordinary horses, some dolled up ladies and a lot of grog. Nice relaxing day today. Carol joined me for a 90 minute walk north along the iconic Cable Beach about 7:00am. After a late breakfast we visited the "boulevard shopping centre" they even have Target and Woolworths! Nice drive along Rendell Beach which reminded us of Barnhill Station, before heading back to camp. Had another really enjoyable walk along the beach, this time towards the south and at sun up. The morning light on the sandstone cliffs really brings out the orange, red, pink, and purpley colours in the rock formations. The incoming tide meant the beach changed quite significantly during the hour walk. The relatively easy pack up, followed by a cold shower in the roofless ablutions block meant we left about 11:00am.
