Manjimup turned on a stunning day for us on Tuesday which allowed Kimbo to wash the bus (yes wash the bus) and also the trailer. We don't think the trailer has ever been washed and we've had it for over 7 years, how disgraceful. By the time he was finished he needed a good lie down and a cup of tea. However we had no time for that.
I was saddened that my purple ugg boots hadn't arrived by the time we left. Anyone who knows me well, knows that my choice of footwear is ugg boots, even in the tropics (they are my slippers). The shop in Manjimup now has 3 pairs of purple ugg boots that arrived on Wednesday. Thankfully I was able to pick up a pair, lets call them pink from a delightful, albeit touristy shop in Fremantle, and I now know all about the Ugg boot story, what are real and what aren't. I was complemented on my beautiful feet, thanks to wearing Ugg boots for so many years and the lanolin that exudes from the high class boots that I wear, my trip to Perth is complete! What an amazing salesman.
Thanks Marisa and Jeff for allowing us a very late check out of 1.00pm and for being such caring tourist operators . Anyone travelling to Manjimup if you stay at Warren Way Caravan Park, you will be provided with the best customer service you could ask for in their lovely quiet park.
Kimbo did have his cup of tea after he had a shower and made himself look a little bit respectable for our new stop. The drive was very familiar to him as he'd done it so many times before. It was all new to me from Bunbury, but mainly freeway, so not even the slightest glimpse of the sea, just traffic, traffic and more traffic.
We'd made the decision to stay at Bonney's Waterski Park, both thinking we knew where it was, we didn't!!!! It was much further out of Perth than we imagined, in fact it was in the boonies. It's only a small motorhome park at the back of the park, where there are runs and lakes that are available for water skiers, it's not a cable ski park, but for boats. It's nice and quiet during the week, cannot imagine the noise over the weekends however, how quickly old skiers choose to not remember the noise we used to make when we were having fun in the water.....lol!
Yesterday was spent undertaking some much needed retail therapy. Needing clothes for our new jobs, I don't think we've bought so much black clothing/shoes in one expedition ever. I realised I have become a real country bumpkin as I couldn't get over the volume of traffic. Perth sure has grown since we were living here in 1992/93. It was a wonderful travelling alongside the Canning River and then to cross the Swan over the Narrows Bridge with Kings Park in sight. Sadly we don't have time to investigate Perth in greater detail this time but it's one of my favourite cities so we'll be back.
Thrilled this morning to harvest my first crop of mushrooms - and a very nice crop as you will appreciate. Have just sat down to a late BBQ dinner and was able to dine out on these delectable morsels.....left more for a treat tomorrow!
As mentioned earlier we did a bit of a trip to Freo, no trip to Perth for us would be complete without a sojourn there. As always it was wonderful and we love that the history has been kept - it feels a bit like The Rocks in Sydney. We parked the car in the Fremantle Prison car park, but thankfully we didn't need to check in. Caesar salad lunch was just the ticket.
Spent the rest of the day buying up, and I think the last time we spent so much money at a supermarket was our last houseboat holiday for 10-12people, in the late 80s. A stock up of alcohol which now invades the back of the car and we are now ready to hit the road tomorrow.
Have just been talking to a lovely couple from Holland who arrived in Perth yesterday. They've just purchased the obligatory van, with everything provided and ready for a great adventure. As their adventure starts, so does ours. Love the dynamics of it all.
Off we go tomorrow for an overnighter we know not where, but it will be fabulous and it will be travelling north. It's going to be a scorcher - about 38 in Perth so can only image what it'll be like further north, but we can flick the generator on and have the air con on while we're travelling..........pure luxury.
Will check in again when we have the opportunity. ;-)

ash-wendyfrank Mmmmmm! will have to bend your ear about making your own Mushy's, Hope I can up here?? You sound so excited about heading north, I hope you like it as much as we do. Be sure to drop into Ellendale Pool when you get up near Geraldton, up there with our absolute favorites so far, but then you've probably been there?? Lovin' your blog.Happy travels
busmartins Liz the mushies were divine! Mind you it's much hotter up here even now so will have to keep a close eye on them xx
busmartins Wendy the first thing you need to grow the mushies is a mushroom box and kit - maybe Corrina could get them in :-) We are excited, always up for a new experience, and if it doesn't work out well we'll just go somewhere else, but I expect that all will be well. We're in Geraldton right now and yes Ellendale Pool is beautiful, but we've decided to stay "in town" for a couple of days.
