When we poked our heads out of the tent we could see that the birds were enjoying the apple that Kimbo put out last night.
The sun was slow to penetrate but once it did we were made aware it was going to be a hot day.
We leisurely packed up and walked once more to the river and dam and even spied some beautiful looking marron (they are freshwater crayfish endemic to the SW of WA).
By the time we left 11.45am it was really hot. We stopped in Collie quickly then headed south to Boyup Brook which is on the Blackwood River. Sadly no places for us to camp there so we pushed on. We then made the decision to head to Bridgetown also on the Blackwood River. We spent some time at the river cooling down and then continued on looking for suitable camp spots. None could be found so back to town we went and made the good decision to stay at the caravan park. I was pretty damn happy as it meant I could have a shower and wash my hair. The park is right on the river and the managers are lovely. By the time we got settled a breeze had blown up and the sky was overcast so the temperature was much more pleasant. We had a quick walk up the street to buy some cold drinks, then back we came to enjoy said drinks and cook dinner. By the time we'd cooked dinner with one of the locals I was in track pants and a windcheater – my how quickly the weather changed. He suggested we visit one of the last remaining karri forests, which is not too far out of town so I think that’ll be a mission for tomorrow. I was feeling revitalised and slept like a log.
