With only a few weeks to go before we both finish work and leave Perth there was much to do. Many modifications made to the trailer including a pole container and jerry can holder. The bikes will now go on a bike rack at the back of the bus not on top of the car.
Kimbo has been making home brew for a very long time and I've become quite used to the sound of his brew popping all night. He thinks he’ll have a good supply at hand once we hit the road. I’m a little concerned about how well the bottles will travel as they’ll have to be stored under the bed and the thought of beer bottles exploding is a little worrying!
Hottest November day in 15 years – Wednesday 24th 38 degrees – next day 22.5 - nothing like mixing it around a bit!
I finished my various jobs during that week and I was overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of the lovely people I’ve worked with over the past few months.
Kimbo’s last day at work was 26th November where he celebrated a bit hard and fell over and grazed his arm while kicking the footy around after work. He was given a bottle of Chivas Regal as a farewell gift – excellent as he doesn’t drink scotch, so it looks like I’ll be right for a while.
We had the Moke advertised on Saturday and like the Corolla it looked beautiful but nobody much was interested. So we decided the best option would be to send it back to Adelaide on a truck and Craig could do whatever he wanted with it.
Now we’re not working we’re able to play tourist again spending time in the city and catching ferries across the river and visiting the conservatory and the Mint. A beautiful building and not surprising a Mint was set up in Perth given the gold rush of the 1800's. The Mint also produced our coins for a while but unsure when that finished. We watched the gold pour and my jaw dropped when I saw the gold nugget collection. Security was tight so no chance of anything falling into our pockets or my bag! I did buy a couple of bags of sixpences that can be cooked in a Xmas pudding - just like "the good old days" - even though I don't make Xmas puddings!
We frocked up and enjoyed a bit of a last supper at Fraser’s Restaurant at Kings Park somewhere I'd been eyeing off for a long time and it didn't disappoint. Just delightful.
We are both very excited about moving on even though it will be a false start while the bus has the brakes looked at so we’ll be camping for a couple of days down south.
Michael and Jacky came over to let us know the Corolla is still going well and they love it and suggested if we get sick of camping we’re more than welcome to stay with them as they’re now living in a house with plenty of room.
Only one more sleep and we’ll be off.
