We set off this morning only to find our depth instrument has stopped working, in the shallow waters round here this is the last thing you need to break. On a positive front after my mast climbing yesterday, I can confirm that we now know what the wind is doing. Wind instruments are nice but not essential, it’s very easy to tell the strength and direction of the wind, depth information is essential and we don’t have it. Last year I cast a lead line so at least we have the same technology as captain cook. This will be our last Polish stop this year, very isolated and not visited by many large yachts as it’s only 2 m deep, we were dragging in mud at one point and we are only 1.5 deep. Nowe Warpno appears to have had a lot of government money spent on it a few years ago but the place is deserted, just a few locals, we are the only visiting yacht in. There is a mystery that I would like to know the answer too. In the Harbour is a large 43 foot Elan yacht only about 8/10 years old , all the sails have been removed and there are the remains of a full winter cover in places. It’s very dirty, obviously it’s not moved for five years or so. £100 K worth boat just sat there deteriorating
