We have arrived now in the capital of Estonia Tallinn. We had 3 choices for moorings the city Marina, noisy and very expensive. A yacht club that might have space, unable to find anyone. Or the old Olympic Marina that was built for the sailing in the 1980 games, we are there. There are some good points and some bad ones, It's very sheltered, there is good fuel available that we were in need of. The bad points are the facilities or lack of. 50 yachts can be here, also we are sharing the site with over 50 motor homes so in the region of 200 to 300 people. There are 2 showers that cost extra and 2 men's toilets that have not been cleaned since the 1980s and probably the same for ladies. Also the cost is high. We spent the afternoon cycling round the City, it's a lovely old city with walls, towers and churches. It was very busy as its on the cruise ship circuit, so groups of people everywhere but as evening came they all went back and the city returned to normal. We found a restaurant and enjoyed a nice meal. It's now 05.00 the next morning, I am up on deck sorting ropes out as the F 9 is now blowing like crazy and our anchor is hitting the jetty. The way we have to tie up here is bows to a wall tied off with 2 ropes and a single stern rope hooked on to a floating bout, pulled tight. The problems start when the wind increases as the buoy gets pulled under and we move forward. We spend all day on board doing jobs, including clothes washing. The wind continued to blow all night. The next day saw the wind dropping a bit but still raining, after lunch the rain stopped so we decided to ride into the city again. There were numerous trees blown down.
There is a huge song and dance festival billed as the largest in the world all outside, there web site says bring clothes for every occasion as the show goes on whatever. Well today they cancelled this mornings concert. We have now stocked up on food as the forecast says we should be able to leave in the morning, wind F 4 F 5 max so we will be crossing over to Finland and another capital city Helsinki. About 45 nm 7/8 hours.
