We had anchored overnight in Mõntu on our way up to Abruka, a small island off the larger Estonian islands. There is only one other visiting yacht here, another rally yacht. The lady harbour master was so excited she raised the union flag for our visit. After yesterdays sail in F8 gale conditions we enjoyed a great sail just 24 miles in a steady F5 downwind Tomorrow we plan to cycle around the island. Another windy day saw us cycling around the islands dirt roads. There is not much to see that is man made, a windmill made in 1932 some old Russian gun bunkers and a few houses. There is a cemetery that is kept tidy by a 70 year old lady one of only 5 winter inhabitants. There is another island just 100 m off called Vahase there is only one full time resident here, we were told about the ancient causeway across so we set off to get there, we only got so far on the bikes before the track became untenable so we hiked in down to the waters edge. We were told to expect a bit of mud. Well I don't think anyone had been there this year. We only got a small way across before Brenda decided that being up to her knees in swamps was not her thing, so back to Bunnybee for warm showers.
