Day 85 (LaTrobe University) - Bendigo, Victoria Australia
Interesting: While watching the idiot box today there was an ad for the Australian Air Force. The ad consisted basically of soldiers stating what they do and how cool it is (typical military advertisement). At the end, the camera went inside the cockpit of a fighter jet flying and you heard the pilot say, "I trained American Air Force pilots." Once again I didn't know how to respond to this.I guess he was trying to say that he's the best of the best?
Looked through the Australian high school "yearbook" today! BTW, they don't use "high school" at the end of their high school name, instead they use either "college" or "grammar school." Anyways, the magazine as they call it was much simpler in design than our yearbooks are. Not nearly as many pictures, and so much more text. It reminded me more of a business or organization year end publication that would be sent to investors or employees stating the progress the business/organization made in the past year. I also found out that they don't get senior pictures taken like we do.Every class gets a group picture in the same outdoor setting. The year 12s have individual pictures of the students, but they're always wearing their uniforms so the pictures and pages are very uniform. I thought it looked very official, and to honest, quite boring (every school, private or public institutes strict uniforms, usually the school seal is somewhere on the uniform). The one thing I did like is that next to the individual year 12 pictures there's a little comment that the year 12s get to write - it usually coincides with the books theme. Another thing I liked was at the beginning of the book, or magazine, there's a list of engagements, weddings, births, and deaths of alumni - my yearbook didn't really have any of that. And they don't have classmates sign them.
