Day 66 (Domestic Airport Gate 57) - Sydney, Australia
Damn do I miss free internet. You can't go anywhere without having to pay to access the web, and I don't like it. In New Zealand the going rate was $2 for 15mins. In the airport it's $15 for an hour or $.20 a minute. Outrageous! I'll have patiently wait until I get back to Scott Annex and hope that the internet speed is back to normal, but I won't be surprised if we used our month's worth of bandwidth within the three days that they had it. I'm kind of getting sick of traveling, it just really bogs me down and is usually uncomfortable. I got up this morning at 3:30am new Zealand time, took a taxi to the airport ($30), checked in for my flight, got persuaded to take an earlier flight, more standing in line, had to pay $25 to leave New Zealand, went through customs, flew the "short hop over the ditch" as they say (it was 3 hours), go through customs again, take the bus to the domestic terminal ($5.50), check-in, go through security, pick-up some maccers, and wait for three hours until my one hour flight from Sydney to Melbourne takes off. Once in Melbourne I will have to find and pay another $16 to take the bus to the train station, pay another $15 to ride the train to Bendigo, which could make me wait an hour for the train, and then another 2 hours for the trip, and possibly catch route 11 bus in Bendigo for Scott Annex ($1). Then maybe I'll be home. ETA: 3:30pm…in a perfect world. For now I wait, read, listen to music, people watch, and wait.
