What a great 2 nights we have had at Undara Lava Lodge camping ground. It's a bit of an oasis in amongst the dry countryside surrounding it. The interest focus of the area are the lava tubes that are situated reasonably close to the Camp. They were created about 190000 years ago when a volcano erupted n sent lava streaming down the nearby creek beds. As the lava rivers flowed the outer layers cooled n hardened which formed an insulated layer which allowed the inside hot lava to continue to until it drained out. We did 2 guided tours yesterday, the Active Explorer cave tour n the Sunset Tour. Both were great n informative for different reasons. As well as these tours we've had a number of games of cards as well as reading n relaxing! Cards have been a regular feature of our trip with Charlie n Anne competing against Bill n I at both Crib n 500. In the early weeks when we've played Charlie n Anne have been victorious but more recently the pendulum has swung somewhat with Bill n I having more success. It's been a nice time waster here n there amongst our travels. We r presently on our way to Hughenden, somehow Charlie n Bill seem to have found a gravel 'shortcut'. I just think they don't want to let go of 'the dirt'!
