Had a great sleep such a quiet n very beautiful park we r staying in, lovely lady owner. Did some housekeeping then walked to Endeavour Falls located at the rear of the park, small but very pretty. Then off on an adventure to Eliminate Beach n the Coloured Sands via the town of Hope Vale, an indigenous community where we paid a small fee to enter their lands. Slim Beach was a free camping site which was so pretty, definitely worth a few days stay on a future trip. One of the interesting things about our trip has been the many n varied people we've met, some r travellers while others r 'locals', all with a story to tell! Lots of good advice about where to go or not go on our travels nth over coming wks. After exploring a little further along a sandy track we headed back to the coloured sands area. Everywhere along the beach line we shanty's in various stages of repair or disrepair, many were greatly damaged in Cyclone Ida. This would be an idyllic place to stay provided the weather stayed good. Don't think I'd like it much in Cyclone or the rainy
season, would be plenty of flies n bugs n humidity! From there we headed round to the Coloured Sands where Bill n Anne headed along the beach in their car as it was low tide. Ch n I started walking but a little while later Bill came back n picked us up n took us along about 500 metres to a break in the wall of sand where we climbed up into the sandhills into a kind of gully. As we climbed we had spectacular views of both the coloured sands n the bay stretching out below. It was so amazing to ponder how this was formed originally n what significance it would have for the local indigenous people.....on our way back to camp we called in to another set of falls called Isabella Falls which was only about 6 kms in off the main road. These too were very pretty. Then back to camp 4 a nap n cruisy evening of nibblies n playing cards. Tough life! Ch n Anne were victorious overall but was pretty well contested at 3/2 overall. Life's tough!
