We headed further down south in the morning to Noosa after saying farewells to all the new friends we had made from Fraser Island trip (although virtually everyone was heading the same way as us anyway!!). Once arrived in Noosa we met Elaine, Kerri and others from Fraser in their hostel and had a few drinks before heading out to a another hostel and bar to meet some of the other Fraser Island faithful......... In club I was in they let me in with Flip Flops and whilst in there the rubber seal went and they broke. No sooner had this happened then a bouncer came up and said "sorry pal you have to wear footwear to come in here" No s*** pal I thought and explained the situation. "Oh no you've had a blowout on your thongs, best go outside and fix it then or you're out"!!!!! Nice, I was now up to speed luckily with the terms "blowout" and "thongs" and with some local help and a lighter we managed to remould the "Thong" so it would see out the evening. Luckily enough I found a pair of flip flops next to our car in Noosa which I had picked up so had replacements at hand (mind you those second hand thongs might explain the abnormal growths etc on my feet now!! haha, joke! well the bit about the growths not the bit about wearing the thongs). Ended up camping out on the peeps from Fraser Islands sofa at their hostel and awoke the next day and headed to the bus depot to meet the guide for our "Gagaju Everglade Canoe Trip".
Met the guide and headed to supermarket to get food/beer supplies before heading out to the bush camp. The bush camp truly was a bush camp, with the type of toilet you just expect to find huge spiders lurking in. Once out here we met Chloe (another person from Fraser) who was on second day of trip and chilled out watching film that night. The next day we canoed down river to a beach with 7 other people in our group where we spent the day relaxing and swimming before the canoe trip back to camp. This was the warm up canoe trip to ensure you would be happy doing the overnight longer trip up river. Although hard going it was good fun and everybody was happy to continue the trip the following day.
Headed up river early the next morning and I was in canoe with one other guy from England, nice scenary paddling through everglades but very very hard work. Luckily for us we had the stereo that these three lads had brought witht hem so a good few tunes being played to help us on our way along. We arrived at the beach and emptied canoes and set up camp. We then had a wander to the local pub where a well deserved refreshing pint was received. That evening was spent around camp with, yep you guessed it a few beers, definately a common theme arriving here!!! The next day we canoed back down the river which was even more painful then previous days due to the soaring heat on us. Tried to stay in shade where possible but really did drain us all. We eventually made it back tot he bush camp and everyone was pretty shattered at this point. Good triip but a little too much hard work for my liking, motor boat next time definately!!
