Arrived in Brisbane late afternoon and got a free night in a hostel courtesy of the girls who sold us the car. Saw Elaine in here from Fraser and then met Chloe and Claire (one of girls she travelling with) in another hostel where we stayed and had few drinks, I say a few we then went back to our hostel and had few more by which stage I got pretty drunk and couldn't find my way back to room as had forgotten where it was!!! Whoops a daisy after a couple hours of negotiating unfamiliar terriroty and a long stint sat in kitchen wandering where I was I somehow gained coordination back to my room??? After the previous nights little adventure woke to a little bit of a heavy head feeling so cured this with the only remedy of a cold shower and a Mcd's breakfast, beautiful. We picked up Chloe and Claire early morning and headed to the infamous Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin Zoo). What a fantastic zoo, got to hold a snake, feed an elephant and see plenty of totally cool animals. Clearly very very well looked after here. There was also a walkway which was like a shrine to the late great Steve Irwin where people had left best wishes and notes in memory of the Croc Hunter. Really was a thouroughly enjoyable day and by far the cleanest and most well looked after zoo I have visited. We dropped the girls off after this said are farewells and headed further down the coast, we were now on a tight timeframe as our mate Rick Finchbeck would be arriving in Sydney in next few days and he was expecting us to meet him........ Next stop Gold Coast.
