When we got to Gold Coast late in the evening we located the "Wet 'N' Wild" waterpark and spent the night in the back of the car in their car park. Up early the next morning and near front of queue for entry. Forgot about school holidays so place was pretty busy. Certainly not the worst water park I have been in (and trust me i love water parks so there been a few) but just did not compare to Saigons, and we both ended up leaving after a good few hours a little dissapointed. Especially given Saigon cost about 2 quid whereas this one was more like 25 quid!!!!! After this we headed down to Surfers Paradise which was a beautiful beach town and i cartainly could of spent a few days chilling out here had we not had to rush to meet Rick. Ended up just spending a couple hours walking on beach and through town before then continuing drive further south to Byron Bay. Once here parked up and spent night. We were awoken the next morning by a tap at the window and just like Cairns there was a car park attendant. However unlike Cairns this guy didn't ask us to move on instead he issued us with a ticket for $80 for parking and sleeping in car in a no camping zone!!! First ticket received but I suppose it was ineveitble when sleeping in car every night!!! Saw a little bit of Byron but then had to leave after receving a message from Rick staing he was at airport. Turns out we had dates wrong and thought he arrived tomorrow, whoops. He was sat at airport waiting a pick up from us, haha. Anyway we ended up drving the entire journey from Byron Bay to Sydney in one hit (around 900km!!!!) and finally battled through the madness of Sydney traffic and one way systems to find old Rick. He had booked into a hotel whcih luckily enough had three beds in it so we all camped up in here for the night and went for, yep you guessed it, a few beverages!!!!

Bit gutted about missing so much from between Brisbane and Sydney but given everything we had seen above this and the initial good feeling I had for Sydney I was not overly annoyed. Plus if you dont see everything first time theres always an excuse to come back, hey!!!
