Day 51:
Our day started with a search for some fresh fish for dinner. I found a place 6 kms out of town and we drove to this tiny town of Bandy Harbour - no such place he grumbled so nothing as usual. Then as we turned there it was. We were so early they hadn't put out the fish, all very fresh and guaranteed to have been caught locally, looking forward to dinner tonight as the Groper looks fabulous.
After we dropped our purchases back to the van we set off for Cape Le Grand National Park and this did not let us down. How superb the beaches and bays are. The first beach at Cape Le Grand had some young bods on the beach racing a car along towing in the water a skier. She was very good but if she had come off the nose plant would have been horrendous. Spoilt the ambiance of the place really but still gorgeous if one could ignore them. The main beach and most famous one being Lucky Bay about 70kms from town, just white sand and stunning blue ocean (postcards and tourism brochures are often seen with a kangaroo sleeping on the beach and we have seen them there previously) busy being a Saturday we could maybe see 25 people spread over a 3km beach, so very crowded. The day was fairly windy still but as a local said it usually is there. We enjoyed our lunch sitting with a great view of this scenery, the sand is so fine it scrunches as you walk. Then explored more by heading eastwards another 60kms toward Duke Orleans Bay and Warton Beach, now that was a stunner as well. Obviously known to locals as not many tourists out there but I suppose 20 people creates a crowd effect in these parts.
So another stunner of a day. I actually got rather burnt yesterday and all we did was go for a walk in the morning and it was a coldish wind and only about 19 degrees. Did not have on a collared shirt for a change and I am regretting it now. Oh well by this age you would think I knew what caused it and be more sensible.
Love to all.
