Day 49:
Out of Hopetoun by 9 as usual but did not get to give the very much required baths as the one bay we required was being used and someone said we really didn't need it. Hah he was so wrong but after travelling another 145 kms into white moths doing a kamikaze across our windscreens it does get to the point we cannot see out of the glass as it is so smeared. We cut across country to avoid about 80kms of roadway, Sam our GPS was not happy at all kept telling us to do a u-turn and find the nearest road. Finally got onto Highway 1 which would take us home if we stayed on it for long enough and then into Esperance.
Our caravan site is one we love (previous visit) - overlooking the water and it is so so blue today. Set up the van, power in, windows open, coffee mugs out and then in he comes with a broken water pipe, at least it happened in a town we thought. So off we went to the Caravan Spares place 'no we haven't any of those at the moment, try Bunnings'. Bunnings was a no go so off we went for lunch. I felt like fish and chips, E: says Fish Face sounds like it would be good place to have lunch and it is on the right just here. W: dead silence, until, 'here is that café that we have eaten at before'. Parks in front and in we go. Forty-five minutes it took to get our lunch, after 2 reminders and it was some prawns with salad and a piece of salmon…tops 10 minutes prep time and it was not busy…grrrr and no chips. Then decided to check out an Agricultural plumbing shop to see if they could help in drainage problem - 'of course how much would you like', so $60 poorer we now have a drainage pipe again, thinking we would have to wait till Ferntree Gully, Vic where we know is a good caravan place but that is 2 weeks away. Another thought - we need loo tablets (they break down the stuff and make it not smell, you don't want to know really) so off to Caravan place again - 'no we don't have any of that kind in at the moment but you can have this for $69' or AutoCheap has them. So off to AutoCheap, in town again, $20 for our preferred brand, much better. I nagged enough and we went to a car wash place so one of the two is cleaner, outside only, still have to jump back when closing the boot as it is 3 inches deep in red dust, I have debugged the windscreen of bugs that were sticking like glue so the Fonz is nearly brown again. Finally, back at the van, all fixed and the view is fantastic. So, another day ends on our travels.
