When we got off the ferry we joined a new bus which already had some people on but Josh our driver came with us so it still felt like our bus. There was now over 30 of us in the group. When we arrived in Nelson we had the usual tour of the town. In Nelson there is a hill and at the top of it is the geographical centre of New Zealand. We stayed at Fern Lodge, it was a very nice hostel as it used to be a hotel. In the hostel they had some wooden stairs built in front of the big screen to make it like stadium seats to watch the rugby. Some people went off to do a sky dive and the rest of us just had a look around Nelson. After that we made our dinner and watched the rugby. The people in the pub were all supporting Ireland and luckily they won against Australia. (they werent supposed to)
In the morning we had a free breakfast of cereal and cup of tea before getting onto the bus and leaving Nelson. We stopped off at Nelson Lakes on the way. We walked through the forest around the lake for about an hour and then had a picnic lunch next to the lake. Josh challenged people to jump in the lake off the wooden pier. The boys rose to the challenge. It was a challenge because apparently the lake is freezing cold! They did it though and confirmed it was infact freezing cold. Two girls then also did it as they did not want the boys to take all the glory. There was no way I was going to jump in!! After lunch we carried on to Westport.
