We had another scenic drive and stopped at lake Matheson to do a walk and check out the lake. Whats special about the lake is it is a mirror lake. It perfectly reflects the forests, hills and mountains in its water. One of the mountains is Mount Cook, the tallest Mountain in New Zealand named after Captain Cook. We walked to a lookout point where we took photos and admired the view.
It was then back on the bus to drive through the mountains. We stopped in a National Park for a picnic lunch but it was spoilt by the number of sand flies flying around and biting you. I got back on the bus fairly quickly and so did most other people. We carried on to Wanaka passing lake Wanaka on the way. Some people who hadnt skydived yet went to do a sky dive. The rest of us chilled out in the hostel. We went down to the Mintbar in the evening as it was two peoples birthday. We had a few drinks.
The next morning we went to puzzle world. It had a few different illusion rooms. In one room the floor was slanted so even though you were standing up normally it looked like you were leaning. It also made it seem that water was running uphill and a chair lift look like it was going up when in fact it was going down. There was another room where at one end of the room you looked like a giant and could touch the ceiling and at the other end you looked really small. This is how they made the hobits look small in Lord of the Rings. There was a room where from the floor to the ceiling it was covered with faces and as you walked around the room the faces moved so they were always looking at you! Outside was the worlds first 3D maze. As well as walking around the same as normal mazes you also had to go across bridges and up and down towers making it 3D. On the bridges you could look down and try to figure out which path you needed to take to get to the towers. I managed to make it to all 4 towers. At the enterance they also had the leaning tower of Wanaka. The cafe had lots of small puzzles on the tables such as tangrams and rubix cubes.
After an hour and a half we made our way to Queenstown.
