It was a late night, 1.30 for me & 3.30 for Pete. The after parties are a bit more subdued this year mainly due to the way the complex is laid out. It was a fun night though, lots of talking which in my case meant a very croaky voice this morning. It all seemed too hard to sort our own breakfast so it was eggs benedict in the restaurant at about 10.30. We were just finishing up when Sanjay and Boomer came in and joined us so we had another couple of coffees and chatted while they ate.
We checked out a few talks, Dr Richard Pyle, Sanjay and Rich Ross which was a hoot as expected. We caught the end of Justin Grabel which was kind of odd and finished with Charles Deelbek which just made us want to go back to the Steinhart.
We did some more wandering around the floor and spent some time at reefs.com chatting and trying to get the interview they wanted to do with Pete done. The big guns like Julian were there to be interviewed so in the end we set it up for tomorrow.
The banquet was great fun, instead of a keynote speaker they had an entertainer, Jason Hewlett. Jason was hilarious, the things he can do with his face are amazing.
We drank for some time after the banquet courtesy of free drink tickets from Tim and Jeff, mostly with Angie and Kevin. We got dragged, briefly, into the baby gender circus and went back to the bar to use our free drink tickets. Kevin left to find Angie who had wandered off when we went to the Michelle thing and Peter and Gary from Oz moved in for a chat. Once they left we joined Sanjay, Joe etc for a couple before a little after one they closed the bars so we all moved to the reefs suite for the party. We weren't in the main room for long before being invited into the quiet room with Rich Ross, Sanjay, Kevin and Joe. It was great fun just sitting back and listening to the greatest minds of the hobby chatting in a relaxed environment. About 3.30 we got word from the main room that the usual loud idiots had caused security to come and tell them to shut it down. Even the quiet room had been invaded by a couple of the
loud young guys who got through the door when the security issue was reported so the easiest thing was to move on. Not sure where the rest went but we headed for our room and bed.
