We got up at 7.30 and had breakfast at the hotel then were picked up by the tour company for our dogsledding trip at 9.30am.
Driven to tour company office where we changed into snow suits and then drove on to kennels. Harnessed dogs and attached them to the sled then we were off, one driving the other as a passenger in the sled.
After a few bumps at the start we went ok. Reasonably flat run until just before half way when we hit our first hill. Driver had to push the sled up the hill in knee deep snow. Switched places with S driving and me as passenger at the half way point.
After a few minutes we hit a bump and S fell from the sled, luckily I managed to throw out the anchor and stop the sled. S was ok except for a sore neck. S decided to keep driving but only for another minute and I took over again.
So many hills on the way back I swapped sleds with a guy behind us who had no passenger with a few hundred metres to go. We both made it back in one piece and then unharnessed the dogs and went to see the 1 week old huskie puppies.
We were then taken back to the hotel tired and sore. We walked up the main street looking at what restaurants were about for dinner and stopped for a coffee and cake and then bought some more supplies from the supermarket. Returned to the hotel and ate dinner at the pub again. Early night again as we had an early start the next morning.
