Well we left Milford Sound and made our way towards Queenstown. We went through some really stunning scenery and decided to stop in a small town called Kingston which was at the base of a massive lake. The other end of this lake was Queenstown and we had a really relaxing lunch and skimmed some stones aswell, the water was so clear. There was also a Choo Choo train puffing smoke and it was very surreal, could hear the echos coming off the mountains. We set off towards Queenstown and when we arrived we check into our very expensive caravan park. It was the first time we had been crammed like sardines in a tincan, it was really clostrophobic!!! we decided to go out and take a walk around the town and get our bearings. We contemplated doing the skydive here because the weather was just perfect, but we decided against because I (Kam) wanted to acheive this over the Fox Glacier, much to Ellies relief!!!! Queenstown was the first place that felt really touristy and felt like a ski resort, infact it is Ski resort and there were lots of bars and eatteries, just llike a Ski resort!!! We grabbed some dinner from the Four Squares supermarket and ate it in the overpriced, eco-friendly caravan park. We watched Doc Martin aswell rock on!!!
We decided to have a really nice salad by the lake so we went out to a really nice mediteranian Deli and got some bit and pieces. We prepared and walked to the lake and sat and ate the creation, it was yummy. We sat by the lake and decided we would go up the gondola and watch the Bungy jumpers. To our disgust it was $25 each but we had to go up. It was worth it, we did see the bungy jumpers and they were crazy, hurling off a ledge with trees below. We then walked up a bit further and we got a great view over Queenstown and we sat and relaxed. People were also Paragliding off here and they seemed so peaceful. After a while we went back down and I persuaded Ellie to have some Fish and Chips mmmmm!!! We walked back to our caravan park and relaxed!!!!
Next day we went into town to use the internet, we wern't geared up to go to church as we had a long drive ahead. Anyway we parked up weirdly outside the baptist church but still were in two minds. We walked past the church and then realised we left our email cards in the car so we had to go back. This so felt like god telling us to go to church so we did go and it was really good. We met a really nice couple from Eastbourne and we left feeling revitalised!!! we did go into town and then began our long journey towards the Glaciers. On the way we stopped at the Nevis Highwire (134mtre bungy jump) off a suspension bridge, the people were mad. We then went via Wanaka towards our rest stop.
Next stop Fox Glacier................
