We left Motueka and made our way to Nelson, we were quite sad to leave Motueka as we had such a good time there. We did plan to have a few days in Nelson but after arrriving there we thought one afternoon would be enough, it was a pleasant place but it was a bit too busy for our liking! So we made our way towards Picton, we had a wonderful drive there along Queen Charlotte Drive. Again the scenery was just lovely and the road was so windy, every corner we went round we saw another lovely bay with crystal clear water below us, we passed a fence covered in bras and loads of sheep!!! We finally got to Picton in the evening and settled into the Top 10 park.
My Great Uncle Colin lives in Picton with Pam so we arranged to meet up the following day, they had a gorgous house which overlooked the ferries coming in from Wellington. They took us out on the Queen Charlotte drive again to a lovely bay for a picnic lunch. We had a lovely day with them, they took us to a suspension bridge where we had a little walk along the river and then we all had afternoon tea in a little cafe! When we got back to Picton they suggested a drink out so we walked down to the harbour and had a drink on a big boat thats been converted into a bar/restuarant......the day went by so quickly and it was really good to talk to them as they have travelled alot!! They invited us over for a BBQ the next evening which was nice, the thought of proper food!!!! Me and Kam had a walk round Picton the next day and it is a lovely little town, very quiet and pituresque. We got some naughty pies from a bakery that Pam had recommended and then sat watching the boats bobbing in the water munching away! In the evening we went back over to Colin and Pams and had a really really nice BBQ dinner and we sat up at the table (you don't do much of that when you're travelling!!!) we had a great evening chatting with them and I must admit I did have a tear in my eye when we said goodbye to them !!!
So that was the end of our South Island adventure and again we were really had a lovely few days in Picton to end it up!
Next stop Wellington on the North Island!!!
