With black threatening skies and the steamy atmosphere of the wet, we packed up and headed off down the coast on our return trip South.
Our first stop was 80 mile beach for a lovely 3 days of fishing, reading, beach walks and relaxing. Some of the best sunsets we have ever experienced lit up the sky each night. Whilst it was still extremely hot here a faint sea breeze gave some relief each day.
Avan had some fishing successes and when 2 Swiss girls in a "Wicked Van" camped next to us we fell into conversation and invited them to a meal of BBQ'd Shark, Salad and Sweet Potato chips. The girls were happy to just have a taste but said the fare was enjoyable. (Wicked Vans can be seen all over Australia. They cater for the budget backpacker market providing a no frills basic van with wildly artistic designs on the exterior).
On our last morning whilst walking on the beach we came across baby turtle tracks and followed them up the beach to find a nest of hatched babies waiting for dark to make their frantic dash to the water to join their siblings who had already gone the previous night. We also came across several dead baby turtle's on the beach that had been picked off by various predators.
We then set off to Marble Bar.

laorfamily Great picture I just happened to see the storm picture and had to go read your travelogues. Did the storm ever come into fruition?
