Hello to all our friends and family! We did have a web site going previously for this trip but it crashed around the middle of the year and so I thought now that we have set up this web site for our 2005 trip we would put in a condensed version of 2004 and upload a few of our favourite photos.
It was a year of experiencing Australia in a different way to people who just complete the circle on highway 1. We achieved our aim of meeting lots of people in real country towns spending the majority of our time bush camping - (30 second OZ tents are the best!)
We visited the 4 extreme points of the mainland i.e. Cape York most northerly, Byron Bay most easterly, Wilson's Promotory most southerly and lastly Steep Point the most Westerly.
We also spent more time with family and friends than would be possible in a much shorter trip. We learnt on our trip to manage with less possessions than most people would think possible and learnt how to improvise and compromise.
Our travelling manner with our troopie (the Rooster) and out tent proved absolutely successful and in the end we could set up camp including our bed made and be boiling the kettle in 8 minutes. Not bad! Some of our fondest memories and happiest times were bush camping with a campfire (bush TV) in the middle of nowhere with the brightest of stars and moon for company but we also enjoyed immensely meeting and talking with fellow travellers and made some good friends (including some from overseas) with whom we are in contact.
