Ok for a slight recap on whats been going on that I might have not bothered to mention last time as I couldnt be bothered. So maybe on the Saturday we were all hanging as we partied hard on the Friday so we decided we needed a McDonalds so we realised we were around 1 hour away from a Maccas so what do we do? Well of course we orgsnise a huge road trip to get there so 3 cars full of hungover backpackers heads on down (or up?) to get there. Road Trip woohoo. Kate's car almost ran out of petrol on route which would have been a laugh. Not. So she just made it to a petrol station just in time before we broke down in the middle of no where. Lucky if she had there would have been a choice of 2 cars to get petrol for us though to be fair. We finally made it and discovered they had a saver menu which was a happy moment so I got my first McDouble and a Crunchie McFlurry in over a month maybe? it was amazing! one of the lads Dan got himself a burger for now and one for later on in the night. I promised him I would steal it later on, and I did end up managing to eat the rest of it later on that night after he'd reheated it at about 10pm when we were drunk again in the hostel outside area. Dead proud of myself with that score. So after our family day out to Maccas we hit the op shops (op shops are charity shops here) as we'd decided to have a Op Shop Party that night where we had to buy the worst things we could find ever. So we hit Vinnies and I managed to get myself an amazing Blue Silk skirt and a mustard bomber jacket so I basically looked like some one from eastenders in the 80s. To be honest though I think the bomber jacket is actually really cool. So I will clearly be wearing it everywhere in Margaret River for the next few months. Janine got some amazing blue Sandra D (grease) esq jumper with some lovely flowers on and a pink heart childrens necklace. Jim got a lime green shirt and beige cords that he did up high like Simon Cowell pants and Kate got herself a cool oversize shirt so she actually looked quite cool. Some of the boys got some pyjamas for themselves and some operation syle outfits. So we all looked very cool indeed. then we partied like it was 1988. We were rocking. We obviously ended up in the Settlers (my new local) and I ended up drinking Kir Royales whoop. Classy Tracy is back even in my 80s eastender outfit. So we all ended up back in the hostel via the kebab shop - basically the most geordie night out ive had in WA since arrival. So good times for sure.
The next day Kate was going to meet her parents to pick up some stuff from them as she has now decided to stay in Margaret River for a little bit instead of living with her parents in Mandurah. so me and Janine tagged along to meet them for some lunch in Busselton. We went to Busselton Pier which is 2k long so we were planning on walking that but then the weather turned and we were back in sunny newcastle again and it was pissing it down so that was out. Kates parents ended up treating us to our lunch in a place called the Goose that could not be further away from The Goose in the town. IT was a lovely waterside restaurant. We all got fish n chips which were soo expensive me and Janine nearly had a heart attack as it was way more than our weekly food budget. It was soo good. and it came with salad. OMG a backpackers dream. So that was lovely bless them and even after all these years in Oz they sound soo geordie so it was nice to hear accents from home and see them again!! they then spoiled us even more by treating us to some ice cream cones mine was strawberry cheesecake and huge so I was massively happy about that. Apart from McFlurries I have no idea when I last had a proper ice cream. Would still love a Minchellas like that would be amazing a nice trip to South Shields beach for a wander fish and chips followed by an Minchellas. But this was pretty close as it was cold and raining in Busselton haha. So after we were fed amazingly Kate went and sorted her stuff out from her parents and we all had a family hug from our new parents in WA and off we went back to Margaret River. Kates parents had brought us some CDs for the cars as we are really struggling with our one copy of FLeetwood Mac tribute album and the Clubland mix from 2000. Which is all we have found so far in the op shops so we ended up with some mix cds. Which led us to get to Leona Lewis Bleeding so me, Janine and Kate made a loverly snapchap video of us singing Bleeding Love which to be honest really showcased our singing talents. Australias got talent here we come! We had a lovely good old singalong all the way home which is always a favourite thing of mine since I have a lovely voice which I got from my mam...
On the monday I had a job interview for the Deli Counter at Woolworths woo hoo... So off I went to the new store Woolworths which was lovely indeed, its so big which excites me as there isnt much to do here and I have already exhuasted Coles so Woolworths is going to be wicked and it looks like there will be other shops in there too it may potentially be Margaret River Shopping Mall? maybe that is a slight exageration as I dont think there is any need in a town with population of 13000 people. So anyways I got inside woolies (it's asdsas equivelant btw) I asked the lady inside bearing in mind I'd just entered a massive building site though a random open fire door. Where a lot of building and site managers were milling round but yet not one questioned me getting inside, so this lady was like 'oh no there is no interviews today they are all tomorrow' So I explained I had been specifically asked to come on the Monday at 1.30 and was this for the deli counter job interviews so she finally rang a man called John and he said I was to come back tomorrow and they must have forgot to inform me interviews had changed. How annoying, even more so cos some of the others had gone for a day out to the beach and saw dolphins so I could have gone with them. So I was a bit pissed off about that! Bloody woolworths.
The next day it was Kates 27th birthday so Janine made us eggs and toast and we had passion pop mixed with orange and mango juice for bucks fizz. She was on her cans of Jack n Coke by 12 lunchtime and we then decided we would have a day long BBQ party in the hostel for her so Chris went and sorted all the food out bless him and became BBQ master for the day which was canny bless him. I made homemade burgers for us all as to buy premade burgers is very pricey. Everyone was on the goon but me as I was waiting for that stupid bloody interview for woolies. So eventually after a burger and some sausages I went off and got changed and scrubbed up for my interview part 2. So off I went again inside the building site no questions asked and found the same lady as I'd seen the day before and she was like 'John said to meet him in the Margaret River Hotel?' As though I am clearly some kind of massive psychic which obviously I did not get that mind memo so off I went to the Margaret River hotel annoyed again already. I went in the Reception and asked for John and they were like are you here for a Red Rock Interview? I was like no Woolworths, and she was like oh ok, good luck then and see if anyone shows up. Great. Eventually John walks in I identify him not due to my psychic powers but due to the fact he comes in with a million books and paper work suited for an interview. So I introduce myself and he's like 'oh I cant find your paper work anywhere, when did I call you?' So I explain he did not call me himself it was Kathy from Head Office for the Deli Counter Roles. And he's like 'oh right, I'm not interviewing for them jobs' seriously?! Flipping heck. So he says he's interviewing for the shelf filler roles which are just temporary work roles for this weekend to make sure the shops ready to open in time. And if I was here for Deli role I'd probably not be able to work the filler roles as I would be training? So he said he would interview me anyway, but as he had no CV or application form of mine he asked for my job history so I gave him a good old rundown and he said he thought I would be better suited for supervisor roles as I am older and have good experience with people so he said he would have to speak to head office to try to sort my application stuff out. He didn't really apologize either he was going to give me his number then decided he wouldn't as he had mine, so he said he would let me know either way so I would find out asap what was going on. I explained I was desperate for a job and even 10 hours a week would be good for me at the moment and I said I would do any job from cleaning to anything. So I shook his hand and left in a bit of a radge as they are proper messing me around the d*** . I have still not heard a peep from them 2 full days on. Nice. Its only a fricking supermarket? So I left the interview in the Margaret River hotel and went straight round to the Margaret River Hotel Bottleo so I hope he wasn't watching me!! I went straight to get some Passion Pop so I could get on with the party crowd as almost everyone else was drunk already as it was a party after all. Poor Ben our hostel manager has been telling us off like school kids past few days as we are so naughty and loud on a night we have a curfew of 11 when we must not be outside, making noise or drinking. It's so funny. I literally live in Byker Grove for real this time. There are a lot of rules. Ben is so lovely though bless him so we feel bad when he gets woken up as he lives in the house in the grounds so when we are noisy we actually disturb him. Oops. So anyways I got my passion pop and got on it. It was a wicked day Kate was pretty drunken and had a really good birthday I think we got her a cake and sparklers so it was a proper celebration. By the end of the days we were all pretty drunk and after a few trips back to the bottleo I was in bed by 10.15pm feeling ill and struggling to sleep. Good times indeed.
In the morning we got up and decided to go see the whales as it was a calm day, I was planning on a day of surfing with a German guy who has just arrived called Yannick but we decided surfing is always good here but calm waters don't happen often so off we went to spot some whales it was me, Janine, Kate, Bex and 2 scouse guys who had just arrived so we went to Flinders Bay and me and Janine seen a whale woohoo!! We both saw the same thing so it has to be as it wasn't on the horizon so we are very pleased with our selves. Flinders Bay is the most gorgeous beach I've ever seen in Oz for sure it's beautiful blue shallow waters it's a lush little bay so I love it. It's meant to be the best place for spotting whales. So we were chuffed. The tide started to come in a bit much then as the waves had started up so off we went on a drive round the coast. The scouse men went to the lighthouse and went off to do their own thing, they ended up fishing n having BBQ's bless them. It has been their first stay in a hostel and I think they have been loving it. On our drive round the coast we ended up seeing some more whales (potentially) we saw some sprays in one place in the ocean so that was also exciting for us. We then came back to the hostel via a different Op Shop where I got some jeans, Australia scarf and an amazing 80s shirt for less than 10 bucks. Bloody love Op Shops me like. No free bread this time though as we have gotten free bread from Op shops before here haha. We got some DVD's and then went back to watch the notebook, we had a cheese n tomato pizza and crisps and mars bar cookies. And had a bit of a girls day which was nice apart from the film part as it was a huge pile of s*** I hate proper girls films like that. We had Kate's cosy blanket on us all too so we were all falling asleep all cuddled up it was lush. I managed to fall asleep mid way through the film as it was that good.
Another amazing part of our hostel collection was crazy Kaye from New Zealand, she is this eccentric lady who loves hats. In the 2 weeks I have been here she has left and came back at least 7 times seriously. She has always had this 'I'm going to Tibet' story but she kept saying it depended on her travel agent and the political situation. No mention of visas or anything, she kept leaving and coming back as she'd missed her buses or her lifts etc. She also used to borrow/steal everyone's stuff and encourage everyone to do the same. She was pretty cheeky like, she was 52 I think and was a teacher working in an Art Gallery occasionally for her friends and she wants to do the grape pruning too as she has no money but has loads of money? She was very confusing with her stories she did eventually leave on Kates birthday she left her some birthday flowers which I think she'd stolen from a graveyard… She said see you soon when she went and then was back 4 hours later but then did get picked up again and did leave and now 48 hours later she has still not returned so she may really be gone for a month. What a character.
Anyways I think that might be all caught up there guys… until next time xxx
