We had another lovely relaxing morning. We had brekkie then drove to the blowholes and watched them again. It is very windy and rainy today. We then lazed around the caravan waiting for the weather to improve. We went for our first snorkel in the lagoon (also known as the aquarium by the locals) and there was a lot of sea life and the fish were quite large too. We hopped in one end and the current would take us down the beach where we would get out and do it all again. The coral is only about 3 metres from shore. We were very luck to spot a Dugong and sea turtle as well. I befriended a mother and daughter so I had company while I was snorkelling as I got a bit scared after seeing the Dugong and another large fish. The water wasn't too bad but the wind was cold when we got out of the water. We went back to the caravan and lazed around and went back up to our little lookout and decided we would stay a 4th night. Our neighbour Billy then took Rog fishing and he was very excited when he came back with 3 Golden Trevalli around 55cm. Billy filleted them all for us and we had grilled fish and vegetables for dinner. I think we will be eating fish for days! I forgot to mention this afternoon Billy gave us some of his homemade fried fish and chips and it was delicious.
While Rog was fishing I finally had a chance to start the kids scrapbook of our trip so far and the kids did some colouring in. Then a couple who we met at Whalebone Bay spotted us so they came over for a chat for about an hour then Peter who we met the first night came down for a chat. It's definitely a very social holiday.
We are hoping the weather fines up tomorrow so we can do lots more snorkelling and Rog is desperate to go fishing. The marine life around here is amazing and lot's of the locals/regulars have been telling us about lots of sea life they see including sharks, dugongs, turtles etc. They also do balloon fishing for Mackerel. We are really interested to see this but it doesn't sound like the weather will be suitable till Tuesday so we will be gone by then.
