Day 70 - Peaceful Bay / Walpole Area
It was another rainy morning so we didn’t rush out the door. Once the sky cleared we went for a walk along the beach and Josh did some fishing (but only caught seaweed!).
We then drove to the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. It’s a walkway that climbs to a height of 40 metres through the towering karri and red tingle forest. The red tingle trees can reach a height of 70 metres and are only found in Walpole and Nornalup regions.
We then did the Ancient Empire walk which meanders around and through a grove of veteran red tingle trees. We saw the ‘Grandma’ tree which is over 400 years old.
We then drove to Conspicuous Cliffs and walked up the hill to two viewing platforms. We were hoping to spot some whales but unfortunately we didn’t find any and the rain was about to roll in again so we had to walk quickly back to the car.
As we drove back to Peaceful Bay we stopped to look at some cows in a field and they must have thought we were the feeding car as they all came running over to the fence mooing and when we started driving down the road they started following us.
We then went back to the caravan and had a late lunch and watched a movie.
After dinner Josh & Rog went back across the road to go fishing but it started raining again so they didn’t get to fish for long.
