Day 69 - Margaret River to Peaceful Bay
We woke up to a beautiful blue sky but unfortunately it didn’t take long for the rain to start again!
We left Margaret River around 9am and had a beautiful driving day. We drove through forests of Karri trees which grow up to 90m high, making it the tallest tree in WA and one of the tallest in the world. We also drove past beautiful green fields of cattle, calf’s, kangaroos, sheep and we saw some emu’s too.
Our first stop was Beedelup National Park to see the Beedelup Falls, which drop 100m over a series of steep granite rocks. First we walked to the viewing platform to see the Falls, Lake Beedelup and the Karri Valley Resort. Then we traversed a boardwalk and a suspension bridge across Beedelup Brook. We had so much fun jumping and swaying on the suspension bridge - Bronte didn’t like us moving it on her though!
We then continued driving through Pemberton to Gloucester National Park. Here we climbed the 53m tall gloucester tree that was used as a fire lookout tree in 1947. Rog nearly made it to the top (which is 153 pegs) but it started raining so he had to climb back down. The kids and I only climbed about 10 metres. Rog was able to enjoy the views of the Karri forest and surrounding farmland. We then went for a walk through the Karri forest.
We continued driving through Walpole and arrived at Peaceful Bay Caravan Park around 3pm.
We checked in and did some washing whilst the kids went and chatted to the campers across from us as they have 2 dogs. We then walked across the road to the beach. We went for a lovely walk and the kids played in the shallow water and collected a couple of shells.
We then had showers, dinner and a movie
