I'm sitting here in the Opholdsstue (living room) chewing on a peppermint gum to get rid of the icky garlic taste I have from dinner while listening to Baz Lurhman's Something for Everybody Album. Am trying to upload my photos on Facebook (from New Years!) but Facebook is not loading! As I look around I can see people doing a puzzle, others just chatting, knitting and some catching up with people from home on their computers.
Sunday is usually a lazy day here at Ollerup. It involves sleeping in (especially if you've had a late night partying the night before), lazing around and talking with friends or watching movies the whole day! My plan for today was to upload my photos onto Facebook and catching up on my emails and Facebook messages, but nothing ever goes to plan. So what did Tam do today??? s*** ALL!
Slept in and then watched Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion on my computer in bed. So annoyed I can't see them live (currently touring Australia at the moment) and I have seen every show that has come to Perth! Anywho, then wasted a lot of time watching cirque clips on youtube for hours until I finally decided to upload photos on Facebook. Which is now working! In 1 hours time I'm going to watch Finding Nemo and then maybe I should write more emails before I hit the sack.
Anywho hopefully I'll be more productive during the week. We don't have our normal schedule this week as it is OD Week and then OD Day on Saturday. This week involves learning about the history of the school and doing lots of other activities. Saturday will be a very busy busy day as there will be over 4000 people at the school during the day. OD Day is a day where former students bring their teams to the school, so it's a big day involving lots of performances. Apparently it's really good and I'm looking forward to it.
It is now 3.5 weeks into the school semester and the crazy thing is I still see some faces that I have never seen before! There are 247 students and it is impossible to get to know everyone. I have still yet to meet every single person and learn their names! However the people that I have met are all very nice. I have a new roommate this semester who funny enough is actually smaller than me! Rikke is her name and she is a very sweet girl. We have a great room with lots of space and our own bathroom. Much better than the tiny room I had last year. The only downside to this is that we live so far from everything! Oh wells, I guess you can't have everything hey.
So I have once again chosen Performance as my gymnastics line and there are almost 50 of us (though only like 8 girls!). For my sport this time I have chosen…. (wait for it) strength training… Tam is pumping iron! Haha yes so I'm in the fitness room doing a program 3 times a week, it's actually quite fun and yes hard work too. We are still taking Danish classes and I guess my Danish is improving but it is still difficult to understand everything, it's such a hard language to learn! My aim is to at least be able to understand everyday conversation by the end of my stay here. So I better start practicing hey.
Oh yea we celebrated Australia Day here in true Aussie style. We had a bbq outside (yes it was bloody freezing but at least it wasn't raining or snowing) and were dressed in our Aussie gear (we even wore our thongs… with socks!) with the flag proudly hung up on the wall. It was a really fun day. And we also introduced Vegemite to some Danes who thought it wasn't too bad! Noice. I'm in the process of uploading my photos onto the web so check it out and see what crazy stuff we got up to.
Anyways signing out now, over and out!
