Ok it's been quite a few weeks since I last blogged and many things have happened. So firstly I would like to apologise for the delay (as you can also see my photos are behind time too) but I will update you briefly about what's been happening in my life lately.
Firstly back in mid-October we had a week off from school so 5 of us (including me) went on a mini Eurotrip to Berlin, Germany and Warsaw, Poland. We took a bus from Copenhagen to Berlin that took 7 hours and also included a 1.5 hour ferry ride. We were in Berlin for 1 day and got the free tour around Berlin. It was a 3.5 hour informative and exciting tour, we saw so much such as the Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust Memorial, Book Burning Memorial, Berlin Wall, Postdamer Platz, Luftwaffe HQ and much more. We then went to Olympia Stadion and yes the boys were VERY excited about it, they were like little kids again. But the stadium was actually very nice (and huge) and to think I went to the stadium where the World Cup was held is quite cool. Anyways so later that night we went on a pub crawl (organised by the same people that does the free tour) around the city and met so many international people. A lot of Aussies. But it was a fun night.
The next 3 days were spent in Warsaw (6 hours via train) where we discovered the city by ourselves using the "FREE map for young travellers". Oh in Warsaw they have this underground system with the tram networks so you can't cross all the main roads above and instead you have to go underground. It's very confusing but we figured it out in the end. Sightseeing stuff we saw the last ruins of the war back in 1945, the remains of the National Bank. Also saw an Orthodox Church that looks nearly the same as St Petersburg, the Hollywood Ghetto which is in the run down Praga district (apparently quite a dangerous area so we weren't there for long), the Vodka and Chocolate Factory shops which did not exist and was literally THE factory so we very disappointed! Oh I forgot to mention one of the best things about Europe during the Autumn season is the colours of the leaves of the trees. There are greens, oranges, yellows, reds, browns, it is so beautiful to see.
My birthday was spent in Warsaw and I had a lovely day and got completely spoilt by Alison. Hugo unfortunately missed out on this day out as he got food poisoning from having a kebab from the underground the night before. And we also did have a bottle and a half of Polska Vodka that night too so the mix of both wasn't too good for his stomach. We actually all felt a little sick in the stomach too but nothing compared to Hugo, he stayed in bed the whole day. So I got breakfast in bed and a rose, then we went to this gorgeous park where a squirrel ran up Palli's leg and then they treated me lunch and we shopped a little but didn't buy anything except for a beanie. Later that night I got cake and we went to Hard Rock Café for a drink (Mojito). Yea just one drink. We had planned a huge party night before the trip but it didn't turn out that way but all is good as I still had an amazing day. Though the nights in Warsaw got very cold we could see the air when we're breathing…. brrrr.
The last night in Warsaw we went to an expensive but had to be done, Ice Bar. It was -8C and we drank shots from a shot glass made entirely of ice! And then we could smash the glass against the wall. We didn't last long in there like 15mins and then headed back out to the normal bar where we listened to some good old school classics like "Daddy Cool" and then some crazy Polska dance music.
We headed back to Berlin for one more day where we did some shopping and saw the Berlin Wall again. We didn't get much time during the tour. And then got the bus back to Copenhagen. We arrived back at the school at 3am and that was the end of Eurotrip. It was an amazing trip with lots of great memories and good fun times! We didn't even kill each other!
So everyone was back at school after a week's holiday and the international students had a party to organise. We had a "Wear What You Dare" dress theme with an international flare. So instead of table numbers we had country tables and flags all around. Everyone made a fantastic effort to dress up, we had cats to firemen to charlie's angels to Dracula to dolphin with trainer to gangsters and so on. I dressed up as Boo from Monsters Inc. The party was awesome and everyone had a great time. Photos will be up shortly; I'm slowly getting there.
Last weekend it was Guest Weekend where all the students here could invite guests to the school and show them around and activities were organised. It was a fun weekend especially the 50's party. The room was decorated so well and the music was awesome and once again everyone made an effort to dress up. I was part of the Red Robins and we all made our skirts! So the night was filled with lots of dancing and jiving and oh a lot of beers! Speaking of beers, last Friday was J-day in Denmark and that's when they start selling Christmas beer and it's only during the Christmas period so I had a taste of it and it was ok, nothing special but the amount of people that was out partying that night because of this special day was crazy. There was fake snow, people wearing Christmas hats and shirts and badges, a fun night out.
Anyways so I have also learnt a lot in the spring centre and haven't just been partying. I have done some skills using the fibretrack tumbling track as well as the big trampoline. I will try to get these on video so you can all see. I have also learnt some pretty cool acrobatics skills (pair work). Next week is practical week where we teach kids from 5th grade from boarding schools, so it would be an experience especially when they don't speak fluent English. We also have to do a performance for them, which we are so not ready for!
Anywho sorry this blog wasn't brief, once I get started sometimes I just can't stop writing! Hopefully I haven't bored you too much and that you are all well. I will (as I always say) try and not let this blog slack off again.
