Hi all, well I've finally settled in here at Ollerup. the small town is about a 2 hour drive from Copenhagen and 15 mins from the city Svendborg.
I've been here a week now and it was only introduction week last week. My proper schedule started today and it was good. There are about 130ish people here (incl 30 internationals). There are students from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Greenland, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Brazil, Scotland, Japan, Canada, Slovenia, Sweden and Denmark. Oh and there's another aussie here from Sydney! Yay!!!
So we had a taste of the different sports (handball, volleyball, football, swimming and nature life). I chose swimming so I can improve on it. and then we had gymnastics/dance/rhythm (I of course chose gym) everyday! man my whole body (once again) got really sore as I'm not used to training this much!
So my schedule is gymnastics mon-fri, swimming 3 times/week, Danish lessons 4 times/wk, leadership classes in ball sports and gymnastics once each/week, classes in physiology and NGO (non-governmental organizations) and also general classes... i think that's it. we eat, sleep and train at the school and therefore the meaning of a folk high school. there is also a lot of singing involved. we sing every morning at morning assembly and in the evening (tues and thurs) after dinner in both English and Danish but mostly Danish! can't wait to start learning Danish, i have learnt a few things from the students here. anyways so the schedule is pretty full on. we may have some classes on saturday too and sunday is our rest day… thankfully!
oh my room is so small! there are 2 people per room. each international is roomed with a Danish and my roommate, Lise, is very nice and we get along really well. we have the smallest room with the smallest wardrobe u have ever seen! however I managed to fit all my clothes in it! Amazing!
There are chores that we all have to do here, 2 weeks at a time and I've got cleaning (vacuuming and wiping tables and lamps). So I have to be up and cleaning at 7am and then breakfast is at 7.20am and Lise and I have the biggest part to clean! So unfair and we have the smallest room, what's with that?!?! Other chores include cleaning up after breakfast, lunch or dinner. So I'll be getting that later down the track.
So it's not all relaxing here. We have to work too. It's kinda nice not having to work and just play sports all day, well most of the day… but as I mentioned before it is an expensive country so my bank account will be going down and there's nothing going in! oh wells, we cant always have what we want.
I love the sky in the northern hemisphere, u can actually see the milky way! Its so pretty and I saw 2 shooting stars on Saturday night as well the lunar eclipse. Was pretty amazing that night. That was also our first party night! A few drunken people but lots of dancing!
I think that pretty much covers everything for now. Am missing my mum's food a lot but the food here is still good just not the same. I feel like some fish sauce now and then hehe
Farvel…
