Another week has passed…
I have to say each week is going by faster and faster and soon it'll be Christmas! Still not too sure where I'm going to spend my Christmas not that it matters much as I don't celebrate it but it'll be nice to be with people I know. Anyways to start off this blog I have more good news. I have been given a scholarship for the spring course so I will be in Denmark until July 2009. Big excitement! Before coming to Ollerup only the 4 month course was confirmed and it said possibly the spring course. Nothing was confirmed yet for next year until earlier this week. So I'm very happy about that.
The Polk students started at the school this week. They are 22 students who are preparing themselves for the test to get into the police academy. We had a welcome party for them last night which involved a performance from each class (we did a dance to the grease mix) and a lot of drunk people. It was a good night overall and a way to get to know them a bit more as we don't have any classes together.
Oh and yesterday we had to do a triathlon. Now I'm not sure if some of you know but I can't swim and I'm not that great on a bike either. Though every time I go to Europe for a gym trip we usually always go cycling so my cycling skills have definitely improved. I remember one time in Helsinki I couldn't get on the bike and Lynn had to tell me to think of a stalk stand (gym related term) and I finally got on! Anyways the triathlon course was 400m swimming then cycle 18km and then run 4.2km. So I struggled in the pool (was the last one out in my heat which was expected) took me 16mins to swim 400m! Hey I can't even swim 25m without stopping! But I didn't even think I was going to be able to complete 400m so I'm quite happy I completed it, couldn't feel my legs afterwards though! Oh and if I didn't choose swimming as my sport I think I would've struggled a lot more, may have taken me half an hour to complete it!
I managed to get on the bike fine and was pretty good throughout the cycling course. Only stopped once and didn't fall off it at all! I was enjoying the scenery very much instead of racing like I was supposed to do. A lot of people passed me and I just wave. I didn't do the running part due to my ankle and foot but the swimming and cycling was enough.
I wrote the above last night and now it's Monday. Went to the chiropractor this morning for my foot cos it's been sore for the last 2 weeks and hasn't gotten any better. Never been to the chiropractor before but what an experience. Henrik (the chiropractor) said that my foot and all the way up to my knee is just tight because it's been compensating for my left ankle. Anyways so he starts yanking at my foot and it felt like it was going to fall off! There was a lot of cracking involved and jolting, I think I like physiotherapy better. Jo I need you!!!
I have to admit it did feel a little better so I guess it did something. So 518 kroners ($120!!!!) later and I have to go see him again on Wednesday and Friday. The receptionist says "oh the first visit is always expensive but the next one will only be around 300 dkk" = $70!!! Why does my body have to get sore all the time! Grrrr…
Anyways that's all for now folks.
