We had a good lie in then got ourselves ready as we had booked to do the Nevis Swing for 12:40pm. I was feeling really nervous because of my fear of heights and I'd seen a film on the bus which made it look really scary. Stefan, Catherine, Sarah, Rachel and I walked down to the bungy office and got wigted and booked in and then we had to sit on beanbags and watch a screen which was playing filmns of people doing the bungy and the swing whch made me feel more nervous! We boarded the bus and had to travel 40 minutes to the bungy site. It was a very nerve-wracking gourney amd gpt more nervous as we climbed the hill to take us there as the road was so steep so I knew it was going to be high up. The driver pointed out the tolilets to us as we darted off the bus to use them. We saw Heather, Dan and Gareth in the building where you get booked in again and can look at your photo's as they had done the bungy earlier that morning. They reassured me that it was just like a rollercoaster ride. At the office they checked our witht again and I'd put on 1kg since we left the office in Queenstown, which the guy pointed out to me saying "you;ve got more fat!" - charming! They then wrote your weight on your hand in red wrriting. Catherine and I were very immature and giggled when the guy wrote the number 69 on her hand!
We then had to walk over a suspension bridge to a building that said 'World's highest swing' and it was so high up - even higher than the nevis bungy, whihc surprised me. We had to warch Stefan go first and when he fell out of view as they pressedthe button to release him we all screames as we knew that was going to be us next. Cat and I geared up and we opted to go backwards as the bungy guys had said that tehir was their favourite way to do it. We had to step up to the edge and on the ledge we sat down on our harnesses and they pulled the rope so that we were no longer above the ledge and were out above the canyon instead. Then after we'd posed for a picture they released us by pressing a button and we screamed our head off for the 70 metre drop. When we'd stopped falling we swayed backwards towards the other side of the canyon and it was only at this point that we stopped screaming and started laughing insead and we gave each other a high-five. We then sawng a few more times and then got lifted slowly up again to the platform. It was such a rush and I was so glad that I had done it. It was such a scary experience being dropped though as even though you know that you are attached by a rope your brain still goes into panic mode when you feel yourself dropping.
Then it was Sarah and Rachel's turn. The bungy guy was really mean when they were about to go and said "hang on that's not on properly" and because I'm so gullible I thought he was being serious and I was really scared as I thought that the guy who releasedt them hadn't heard. Because I'd thought he was being serious I missed taking a photo for Sarah of them falling and I was so relieved when I saw them swing back I was so relieved and quickly took lots of photo's.
We went back to the office and on a screen we were able to look at a film and the photo's fromthe experience. Catherine and I decided to purchase them both and shared the cost. I was able to enjoy the amazing view this time as we travelled back to Queenstown. When we got back we met up with Morton and Mia and went for ice cream at Patagonia. I had hokey pokey flavour whch is vanilla ice cream with caramel pieces in it - it was delicious! We then went for a wander around the shops and stopped for a cider and sat outside. We bumped into others from the bus too who came to join us.
At 7pm we all met for a pizza and drink deal for $5 at the bar next to the hostel. We stayed at the bar till 10pm and then I'd said that we should all go to the beach as I had sparklers left over from halloween. We all headed down and I shared them round. We decided to split into two groups and I was in the first group and had to spell the word Stray by each of us having a letter each as as quckly as possible we had to use the sparkler to spell the word. I had the letter y. Dan, amazingly was able to take a photo and capture us spelling the word, which looked really cool. Unfortunately wen the second group went to sepll 'rocks' some of the sparklers took ages to light and Mia's wouldn't light at all so they tried to spell 'cool' instead but it looked like Boo. We then posed for a group shot at an arch and I climbed onto the gate to be in it. I said goodbye to Heather and Dan as they were leaving the next day to do the southern loop and were spending extra days in Milford Sounds to do the trek there. Nasreen, Kristina, Marius, Catherine, Sarah, Stefan and I went to World Bar and danced to some good tracks and drank cocktails served in teapots.
When we got back to the hostel I had to say goodbye to Stefan as he was leaving the next day too.
