We got up to go kayaking as a small group of us had organised to hire kayaks for the day but we were then told that the wind was too strong for us to go out so we decided instead to take a water taxi to Anchorage Bay and walk back from there, which would take us 12km's.
We boarded our boat and had a very quick scenic ride. Then Mia, Sarah, Morton, Amanda, Stefan and I set off on our walk. We did the loop walk first to get good views from the lookout there and then we found a really lovely deserted beach and Stefan ran and jumped into the water, and even though he told us it was really cold Sarah and I decided to brave it anyway and waded in rather than jumped in. We swam for a bit until I couldn't feel my body anymore due to the cold. We then sunbated on the rocks and gossiped. After we'd dried off we headed back to the picnic spot where we'd got dropped off by the boat and saw some of our Stray group there and sat with them for lunch.
After lunch we started the walk back. My legs still hadn't fully recovered from the Tongariro Crossing so the really steep ascend was hard work! I was really glad when we finally got to the top and I could take a rest whilst we admired the breathtaking views. The national park is really beautiful with huge forest area and amazing beaches but it still couldn't compare with the Tongariro Crossing. We stopped off a couple of times on the walk to admire the views and sit on the beach but we kept going for most of it so that we wouldn't get back too late. Morton and I had a nice chat on the way back.
We got back at 5pm and as the girls were further behind us and had my key I asked Stefan if I could steal Marius' bed to have a nap on as I was exhausted. Stefan and I fell asleep and then I heard Marius come back 20 minutes later so I had to explain why I was there and then I left to see if the girls were back. The room of the door was open so I laid down and slept for nearly an hour until Sarah came to see me and knocked on the door not realising I was asleep. Amanda said she'd not wanted to wake me as I'd looked so cute.
Sarah and I went for a walk down by the sea before making our dinner and then a big group of us sat out and drank our beers on the benches.
