We had the morning to relax so a big group of us headed to the supermarket to get ingredients for a group curry. We then headed down the West coast and stopped at Hokitika to look at the greenstone shops and headed to the beach to see if we could find any ourselves.
We stopped off briefly to take a picture of some beautifyl moutnatains hilst we posed on the bridge in front of it. Then there wa more travelling as we headed to Franz Josef. We arrived early evening and had to to go into the office to have a briefing for our glacier hiking that was taking place the next day.
We checked into our accommodation and in my room was Amanda, Catherine, Sarah and Stefan. Then we headed down to cook dinner and a grooup of 8 of us set to work on preparing the curry. Stefan had suggested all kinds of vegetables that I would never normally have in a curry (tomatos, spring onions, carrots and brocolli) so it took us lots of time and a lot of pans to prepare it. We could see some envious looks from other travellers! Whilst I was cooking a voice next to me said "Do you recognise us?" and when I looked up I saw it was Herbert and Doreen from my Wings boat trip to the Whitsundays in Australia. I caught up with them and then settled down to enjoy our feast.
After dinner we headed down to the on-site bar and Mia had prepared a Danish quiz for us, which involved showing us Danish words and we then had to write down the English words. I was on a team with Sarah and Catherine. One of the words was water as it is a running joke that I pronounce the word like "waaater". It was really funny as we all had really different words for them. We stayed for a couple of drinks and tehn went for an early night to rest for the hiking ahead of us.
