Monday 7th September 2015 Tolga to Morseby
Mal was up nice and early and found time to write up the travel blog. After breakfast with Jeff, Sue looked at old photos and Mal tried to sort out how to use a Garmin GPS with the Apple Mac - well that may not be that easy.
Jeff's older brother Robbie came over to catch up with Sue which was really good - but we all had places to go so by 10am or a little after we had packed up and headed off towards Atherton.
Mal picked up a new air filter for Nosey at Supercheap - and took the two minutes needed to fit the new one. The old dusty one had done a good job but it was time to move on. The final piece of the squashed air filter came when Sue processed a photo with the squashed air filter and we found out Mal had actually bought the incorrect spare in the first place - so it was never going to fit anyway even if Sue had not run over it.
At the corner of the waterfall way at Milla MILLA is a small and old Café. We stopped for coffee and a dose of nostalgia. Mal reflected on the thought that this café was probably open when his family visited the area in the very early 1960's.
We checked out the various falls and ran into the same set of tourists as we moved from falls to falls. At the last falls Mal had a turquoise winged butterfly land on his back as he bent over his tripod in mid stream.
Shortly after reaching the Palmerston Highway a lad on a red sports bike breezed by - aaaah how Mal misses his motorbike. We find an art shop in Innisfail which is well stocked with art materials and water colour paper. The lady who runs the shop is an interesting character and quite a good artist - but it took a long time to finally get our stuff and move on to the bottle shop.
At the bottleshop we were served by Anthony the Johnny Depp look alike - what a charming and very handsome young man - just ask Sue and watch her eyes roll and hear her hear skip a beat..
Col gave us a warm reception and we had much to catch up on. In the evening we watched Col's photos of his last trip overseas.
Tuesday 8th September -
Well today we set to the mammoth task (just look at Vicki) of washing Vicki and Nosey - we hosed, scrubbed, soaped rinsed and repeated all morning till Vicki and Nosey looked presentable again.
We drove into Mourylin to post Lorraine's sun glasses off to her in Mullimbimby - a long waited for task completed.
Mal spent some time in the afternoon working on some water colours of flowers.
We sat down to a Movie night with Sues photos and then followed up with a screening of the Marigold Hotel - while some critics bagged the show, Mal finds that if the critics don't like the movie much, Mal thinks it could be worth a watch and conversely if the critics rave about it (Pulp Fiction being a case in point) - Mal avoids those films.
