Soongies' Great Adventure
This morning, we had a delicious breakfast at home with Moroccan tea! Yahya had gone to school already so it was just the four adults left. We headed into Aranjuez for the morning so Mohammed and Hanan could show us around and also pick up some printer cartridges to print some materials for therapy at home. Aranjuez is a UNESCO world heritage site with the old palace that the prince lived in. Surrounding the palace are amazing gardens - immaculately kept by scores of gardeners - and also a river and forest (where the prince used to hunt!). The buildings are beautiful and impressive and very Spanish! We walked to the centre of Aranjuez which is right next to the covered markets. The markets had several stores selling olives, fresh fruits, meats and cheeses. It felt very Spanish! We then came home and soon Yahya was home too (he finishes school at 1 pm) so we had lunch (vegetable / potato bake and salad) then we did some therapy. Yahya was a star! Later that afternoon Calvin and Kate went back into Aranjuez to go for another wander / buy some bubbles for Yahya (we couldn't help ourselves!!) and then we had dinner at 8 pm - the restaurants only open at 8 pm. We went to Patio Del Mercado in the covered markets - top rated on TripAdvisor. Kate had chicken and seafood paella (which was too salty) and Calvin had veggie risotto and then we shared torta rogel (a pastry caramel cake from Uruguay) - all up only costing €20.
